Walmart Adds Pickup Kiosks to More Locations
BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Walmart is increasing the number of self-service Pickup Towers in stores.
Pickup Towers — which were introduced last year in the mega-retailer’s hometown of Bentonville — are now available in more than a dozen stores, including locations in Gilbert, Ariz.; Glenpool, Okla.; Enterprise and Auburn, Ala.; Gwinnett County, Ga.; and Midlothian, Va.
Usually placed by store entrances, Pickup Towers are automated kiosks that hold hundreds of packages. To get an order, a customer scans a barcode on a purchase receipt; a door on the kiosk opens; and the item, or items, roll out on a conveyor belt.
