Walmart on Campus Format Expands to Fifth Location

RICHMOND, Va. — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is opening its newest Walmart on Campus store at Virginia Commonwealth University. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Wednesday at 7:30 a.m.

Located at 912 W. Grace St., the store is the fifth on-campus format that Walmart has opened to date, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported

At roughly the same size as a typical convenience store, it occupies approximately 4,100 square feet, features a full-service pharmacy, and sells fresh produce, dairy, meat, health and beauty products, and merchandise tailored to meet students' needs. The store will not sell beer, wine, cigarettes or lottery tickets.

Hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The Walmart on Campus format is designed to offer quick and convenient shopping, with health and wellness services, general convenience items and merchandise tailored to the campus, all at Walmart's everyday low prices.

Other Walmart on Campus stores can be found at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arizona State University in Tempe, and Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
