Walmart Expands Grocery Pickup Service

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — More consumers will be able to pick up their groceries without ever leaving their cars at Walmart.

The retailer is expanding its Walmart Pickup Grocery service to additional locations. Five grocery pickup locations will be added to the parking lots of existing smaller-format Walmart Neighborhood Markets in Northwest Arkansas next week, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. launched its Walmart Pickup Grocery service in its hometown of Bentonville a year ago, as CSNews Online previously reported.

The new Northwest Arkansas locations are part of a bigger expansion of the service, a spokesman for the company told the WSJ. In recent weeks, the retailer has added dozens of pickup locations to parking lots of Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets around Phoenix, Denver and Huntsville, Ala.

With Walmart Pickup Grocery, customers can place an order from the website, which offers approximately 10,000 grocery and consumable products, including fresh meat, dairy and common household goods. Customers then schedule a pickup time ranging from two hours to three weeks after placing the order.

When they drive to one of the kiosk stations at the pickup site, they notify an attendant, who brings the order to their car. There are no hidden fees or surcharges, according to Walmart.
