Walmart To Go Prototype Earns Design Award for api(+)

TAMPA, Fla. — api(+)’s prototype design for Walmart To Go was honored by the Association for Retail Environments with the gold award in the convenience store category of its A.R.E. Design Awards.

Walmart To Go is the mega retailer’s first small-format convenience store, located near its headquarters in Bentonville, Ark.

The c-store features illuminated green and yellow exterior branding, “W” columns, logo sparks on the canopy underside, a lowered green entry canopy and an expansive glass storefront that showcases the store’s interior. Walmart To Go offers a medley of fresh-prepared and traditional grocery foods, in addition to popular convenience store products.

The interior is completed with polished concrete floors, galvanized cooler panels and exposed finishes to create an urban loft theme.

“We are proud to continue to be a resource to Walmart for original thinking and fresh design ideas, and honored to be recognized by the leading retail design association, A.R.E., for our work,” said Juan Romero, president and CEO of Tampa-based api(+).

The 2015 A.R.E. Design Awards celebrated retail designs from around the world at an awards presentation at GlobalShop in Las Vegas, where Walmart To Go was showcased among winning projects from nine countries.
