Wawa to be Presenting Sponsor of Mascot Games
ORLANDO, Fla. — Wawa Inc. will serve as the presenting sponsor of the 22nd annual Mascot Games at Orlando's Amway Center, reported the Miami Herald. Hosted by New Hope for Kids, the event features mascots from both professional and college sports teams participating in fun team competitions.
"The Mascot Games, presented by Wawa, truly is one of Central Florida's most unique and entertaining family events and annually raises funds for New Hope for Kids," stated David Joswick, executive director of New Hope for Kids. "We could not have such a tremendous impact without our sponsors, and we would like to sincerely thank Wawa for their presenting sponsorship this year."
Wawa has been involved with the Mascot Games since the chain opened its first convenience store in Orlando.
All proceeds from the Mascot Games will benefit New Hope for Kids, which provides support to children and families grieving the death of a loved one and grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses in central Florida.
Twenty-three MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and NCAA mascots will join the host, Orlando Magic's Stuff the Magic Dragon, and be divided into four teams as they compete in wild and zany games to determine the true champions of the mascot world.
"Community events like the Mascot Games are a true asset for the City Beautiful," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. "We are proud to partner with outstanding local organizations, such as New Hope for Kids, to bring the community to the Amway Center to raise money for a worthy cause."
The event is scheduled for two shows, on June 19 at 12:30 p.m. and June 20 at 2 p.m.
