Wawa Celebrates Philadelphia's Famous Sandwich
MEDIA, Pa. -- Wawa has brought back its annual Hoagiefest just in time for summer. The promotional campaign, which runs now through July 31, features a different Shorti sandwich for $3.49 every two weeks, with Roast Beef and Turkey taking the first at bat.
"Hoagiefest is all about celebrating Philadelphia's most famous sandwich, while thanking our associates and customers for their passion and dedication in the building and eating of every single hoagie made in our stores," Wawa CEO Howard Stoeckel explained in his blog, Bird's Eye View. "We're especially excited to host our signature Hoagie Day celebration on June 29 as part of the Wawa Welcome America! Independence Day festivities in Philadelphia. This free event, which is open to the public, will be jam-packed with hoagie-building and eating excitement, highlighting our great hoagie tradition in the city of Philadelphia dating back more than 20 years."
This year's Hoagie Day will take place June 29 at Independence Hall. Wawa associates, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Philadelphia police officers and firefighters will be on hand for the event. Wawa also will honor U.S. soldiers and local heroes by partnering with the USO and serving a 4.5-ton Hoagie salute, as CSNews Online previously reported.
This year's full lineup features Turkey all 10 weeks, Roast Beef (May 23 through June 5), Cheesesteak (June 6 through June 19), Italian (June 20 through July 3), Meatball (July 4 through July 17) and, batting cleanup, Prime Rib (July 18 through July 31). The Hoagiefest promotion also includes discounts on beverages, ice cream, snacks and ice.
In addition, Hoagiefest features a "Where's Hoagieman?" contest. Customers are encouraged to print out a picture of Hoagieman and take pictures of him enjoying the summer. The pictures can then be submitted Wawa for a chance to win up to $1,000 in Wawa gift cards.
