Wolfgang Candy Co. Grows Pennsylvania Operations

YORK, Pa. — Wolfgang Candy Co., one of America’s oldest family-owned confection companies, is expanding its York manufacturing operation with the recent purchase of a new plant in Longanville, Pa.

To handle its growing business, Wolfgang is making several investments in the North York facility, the company said in a statement.

According to Wolfgang Candy Co. CEO Ben McGlaughlin, “the expansion comes as a result of significant growth in our contract manufacturing business.”

The company currently manufactures Wolfgang-branded products and products for other confectionery and snack food companies as part of its operations.

“The additional sales volume combined with the new facility will produce approximately 30-plus jobs in the York County region by the end of 2016,” said Sam Miller, chief operating officer at Wolfgang. “We are looking for qualified production personnel who want a career with a growing organization whose brand is synonymous with high-quality confection products. We are looking forward to adding these new positions and people to the Wolfgang team.”

Products will roll off the new production line at the Loganville plant before the end of the year, the company noted.

York-based Wolfgang Candy Co. was founded in 1921 and its ownership team includes fourth-generation family members. The family-owned company manufactures its own retail brand labels including: Wolfgang Organic, Cocoa Traveler, Greek Style Yogurt Treats, Farmer’s Fair, Special Reserve Bars, Latimer St. Bakery Truffle Cookies, classic fountain soda flavors, and licensed collegiate mini pretzels.
