Woman Fatally Stabbed At Kum And Go HQ

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Police are trying to piece together what led to a woman's slaying inside Kum & Go headquarters, according to a report by KCCI.com.

Authorities found the body of Gabriela Perez Ramirez on Saturday afternoon in a wooded area just north of Des Moines's city limits near Interstate 35-80 and Morningstar Drive. The victim's live-in boyfriend, Isaac Martinez Zepada, has been charged in the killing.

According to police reports, Zepada and Perez-Ramirez were working together as janitors at Kum & Go headquarters, 6400 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, on Thursday night. Both worked for a janitorial service that cleans office buildings. Police said they were not Kum & Go employees.

The two got into a fight and Perez-Ramirez was killed.

"They became involved in some type of argument, confrontation. As a result, he killed her inside the building," police spokesman Sgt. Todd Dykstra told KCCI.com.

After Martinez-Zepada stabbed and beat Perez-Ramirez inside the Kum & Go building, he then moved her body to the Morningstar Drive location, police said.

Martinez-Zepada has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond. A court date has been set for May 2.

Police said they will continue to investigate the motive for the crime.

Kum & Go spokesman Paul Kluding told CSNews Online that the chain is not making a public statement regarding the incident since it is an open police investigation. He referred all requests for comment to the Des Moines Police Department.
