7-Eleven Adds Dose of Private Label to HBC Mix

DALLAS — 7-Eleven Inc. is taking its proprietary 7-Select brand into a new section of the convenience store: health and beauty care. The nation’s largest c-store operator announced the launch of a private-label line of over-the-counter (OTC) medications.

The new products — supplied by Allegan, Mich.-based Perrigo and available at participating stores at a savings of up to 85 percent per pill or ounce — fall into five major categories: pain relief, cold/flu/allergy, gastrointestinal, cough/throat and sleep aids.

“With the recent changes in health care, an aging population and the transition from prescription to OTC status of some popular medicines, more people are looking for ways to self-treat minor ailments,” said Rebecca Frechette, 7-Eleven’s senior vice president of merchandising.

“Just like when our customers are hungry or thirsty, if they come to our stores feeling ill, they have an immediate need they want fixed fast,” she continued. “With the new 7-Select high-quality alternatives to popular OTC drugs, we can offer them relief from their ailment with great products at value prices.”
