7-Eleven Partners Exclusively With YooLotto

DALLAS -– 7-Eleven Inc. has signed an exclusive partnership with YooLotto to use its free lottery-management application (app).

According to 7-Eleven, YooLotto is the first and only app that stores and tracks individual lottery ticket information, notifying players of their personal lottery results within minutes after drawings. After downloading the app on iOS and Android devices, consumers can then proceed to purchase lottery tickets and subsequently take a picture of those tickets utilizing their smartphones.

YooLotto uses GPS technology to direct them to the closest participating retailer to collect their winnings or try again. Under YooLotto's agreement with 7-Eleven for the app's launch, customers who redeem their lottery winnings in 7-Eleven franchised and company-operated locations are eligible to receive coupons and other deals.

"We wanted to use technology to make the process of keeping track of lottery tickets easy and more convenient, while at the same time reducing the amount of players leaving money on the table,” said YooLotto co-founder Eric Yoo. “We also felt it was important to reward people for frequent play; for believing in the possibility of that life-changing jackpot. That’s why we’re partnering with 7-Eleven and other brands sold inside 7-Eleven to give lottery players great deals on their favorite products so that every ticket is a winner."

Statistics show that hundreds of millions of dollars of lottery winnings are unclaimed in the United States every year. In 2012, a reported $53 million went unclaimed in the Lone Star State alone, a problem the mobile application is attempting to solve.

YooLotto currently supports Powerball and Megamillions games in Texas. The app is planning a national rollout for multi-state games later this year.

"This partnership not only allows us to reward lottery players for redeeming their Texas Powerball and Megamillions tickets at 7-Eleven stores with exclusive deals and coupons, but it also establishes 7-Eleven as the lottery destination in Texas," noted Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, 7-Eleven’s executive vice president for merchandising, marketing, logistics and innovation.

7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 10,000 North American locations.
