7-Eleven Turns Coffee Lovers Into Winners of Presidential Debates

IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven Inc. will offer a special deal on coffee the day after each 2016 Presidential Debate, starting Tuesday, Sept. 27 at participating U.S. stores. Fresh-brewed coffee will be available in the extra-large 7-Election Stay-Hot cups for just $1.

To take advantage of this offer, customers can download the 7-Eleven mobile app, select one of three 7-Election Presidential coffee cups, fill it up and scan the app for the dollar deal.

"Democracy is brewing at 7-Eleven, one cup of coffee at a time," said Laura Gordon, 7-Eleven vice president of marketing and brand innovation. "After watching the informative debates, we encourage every American to come in the next day to choose their favorite party in exchange for a great deal on coffee."

2016 marks the fifth quadrennial 7-Election Presidential Coffee Cup Poll. 7-Eleven customers are invited to "cast their cups" by purchasing coffee in specially marked 7-Election Stay Hot Coffee cups, CSNews Online previously reported. The cups are blue for Democrats, red for Republicans and for the first time, purple for nonpartisans. On regular days, the cups are value priced at or between the regular retail prices of medium and large 7-Eleven hot beverage cups.

"We think $1 coffee is an All-American perk that cuts across party lines," Gordon said.

Coffee lovers can "vote" through Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 8, by purchasing coffee in a 7-Election cup. Each post-debate vote will count toward ongoing 7-Election campaign totals. In previous 7-Election polls, six million "ballots" were cast, and the results accurately predicted those of the real election.

The 2016 Presidential Debates will take place on Sept. 26, Oct. 9 and Oct. 19, with 7-Eleven's $1 coffee deal available the days following each debate.

7-Election cups are also $1 in the 7-Eleven app on Election Day.
