AAFES "We'll Match It!" Campaign gets Competitive

DALLAS -- The Army & Air Force Exchange Service's (AAFES) "We'll Match It!" initiative was updated to allow shoppers to compare prices between the exchange's gas stations and warehouse clubs or other big box retailers.

"Previously, AAFES didn't match 'warehouse clubs' as their shelf prices are offset by required membership fees," said AAFES' Senior Enlisted Advisor Chief Master Sgt. Bryan Eaton. "Military families made it clear that while they understood the PX and BX do not charge fees, they still considered it to be the original 'members only' club. Honoring 'warehouse club' prices is just another example of AAFES adapting to meet the expectations of those it serves."

Proactive surveying and reviews ensure that AAFES' prices are lower than the competition. The plan works in two ways. For a difference in price less than $10, customers can tell the cashier who will match it on the spot. With a price difference greater than $10, drivers can bring a current competitor's ad to receive the reduced price. In either case, the comparison must be identical.

"AAFES is committed to having low prices," said Chief Eaton. "'We'll Match It!' is simply a last line of defense in our desire to be the military shopper's first choice. After AAFES conducts national surveys and associates from the store level compare local prices, military families have this price matching mechanism to make sure no one missed anything."

The "We'll Match It!" same day pledge is also backed-up by a 30-day price guarantee on any product originally purchased from AAFES and subsequently sold at a lower price by AAFES, or another local competitor (excluding unauthorized dealers). The "We'll Match It!" program does not pertain to certain promotions or items such as special offers, free-with-purchase offers, limited quantity offers, bundled promotions, special financing, "gimmick" promotions, special order automotive parts, gasoline, automotive labor/service, double and triple coupons, clearance items, flat percentage off items and vending items.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) is a joint command of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, which is directed by a board of directors.
