Aloha Petroleum and Foodland Super Market Expand Partnership

HONOLULU -- Aloha Petroleum Ltd. and Foodland Super Market Ltd. are joining forces for a third time to serve more customers in Hawaii.

The gasoline marketer and grocery retailer recently began construction on a new fueling station on Oahu at Ewa Town Center, home to Foodland Ewa Beach, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and other businesses and restaurants. The new Foodland Gas Station will sell three grades of gasoline -- regular, plus and super – as well as ethanol-free Aloha Classic Gas. The three-pump station is scheduled to open in April.

“We’ve had a long and successful relationship with Aloha Petroleum, and we know our customers value their product,” said Jenai S. Wall, Foodland chairman and CEO. “Thousands of our customers take advantage of the 5-cent per gallon cash discount at participating Aloha Island Marts by showing their Maika’i card.”

Aloha Petroleum and the Sullivan Family of Companies, operators of Foodland, Food Pantry and Kalama Beach Corp., have two other jointly operated retail fuel sites located in Pahoa and Hilo on the Big Island. The companies have plans to open a fourth location on Maui in the new Kehalani Village Center near Wailuku, where Foodland plans to open its newest store, Foodland Kehalani, this fall.

Aloha Petroleum is the largest gasoline marketer and convenience store operator in Hawaii with a history that dates back to the early 1900s, according to the company.

Aloha employs over 500 Hawaii residents and markets through more than 100 Shell, Aloha and Mahalo branded fueling stations in the state.

Founded in 1948, Foodland Super Market was the first modern supermarket to open in Hawaii. Today, the company employs more than 2,500 people at 32 Foodland, Sack N Save and Foodland Farms stores on four islands, and is Hawaii's largest locally owned and operated grocery retailer.
