Alon Reveals Details of Albuquerque Acquisition

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A deal with Roberts Oil Co. has officially boosted Alon Brands' Albuquerque-area footprint to 38 convenience stores.

CSNews Online previously reported the 14-store deal in coverage of Alon Brands' 2015 fiscal second-quarter earnings call on Aug. 4. At the time, President and CEO Paul Eisman did not reveal the seller.

With the transaction now finalized, all Roberts Oil and Pump-N Save locations will be converted to ALON/7-Eleven stores. Customers can expect to see their favorite 7-Eleven brands, including Slurpee, Big Gulp and Big Bite, in the stores within the next 90 days, the company said.

"After more than 40 years of serving the Albuquerque community, the decision to sell was not an easy one for our family," said Karon Roberts of Roberts Oil Co. "However, we're confident that our business, our employees and our customers are in good hands with ALON/7-Eleven, and we're looking forward to seeing the positive changes ALON has planned for the stores."

According to Eric Corley, regional manager for Alon Brands in Albuquerque, the company will continue to employ all Roberts Oil team members, including store associates and managers. Additional jobs will be created as part of the acquisition.

"This expansion is part of a significant investment we're making in the Albuquerque region," Corley said. "In addition to growing the ALON/7-Eleven footprint by more than 50 percent, we also just finished remodeling all of our locations in the area and built a brand-new store in Rio Rancho. I'm proud of the commitment the company has made and will continue to make to this community and our customers here in Albuquerque."

The companies celebrated the acquisition with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Slurpee toast Tuesday afternoon at the new ALON/7-Eleven store at 8600 Central Ave. SW.

Albuquerque customers also have a chance to enter to win free Slurpees for a year by texting "Slurpee" to 444222 this week.

Dallas-based Alon Brands is the largest licensee of 7-Eleven in the United States, operating more than 300 convenience stores in Central and West Texas and New Mexico.
