Amidst Bankruptcy Speculation Horizon Travel Plaza Close Stores
JACKSON, Tenn. -- According to a former general manager for the company, Horizon Travel Plaza has closed its two Jackson, Tenn., stores as well as other locations throughout the Southeast, reported the Jackson Sun.
Store manager Sharon Hardy told the paper that the news to close two stores came as a surprise. "We went to work as usual," she told the paper, "and then we got the information that U-Hauls were coming in, and the people in charge of the company came out and packed things up, and that was it for the two stores in Jackson."
A representative for the company could not be reached by CSNews Online for comment. The Jackson Sun interviewed company general manager Doug Huges, who said news came down the pike last week that the stores would close. "We had to go and get ATMs at about six stores," he told the paper. "Some were in Georgia and some in Arkansas."
While it is expected that the company will file for bankruptcy, as of last week, the company had not filed in either the western or middle district federal courts of Tennessee, or in Delaware, according to court clerks in each district, the paper reported.
