Atlas Oil Exec Takes Honors as Top HR Executive

TAYLOR, Mich. -- Kari Lawry, vice president of human resources for Atlas Oil Co., has been named Michigan HR Executive of the Year by the American Society of Employers, for companies with less than 1,000 employees. She will be formally recognized at an awards dinner next month.

Lawry is being recognized for enhancing human resources programs and modeling leading edge HR practices at Atlas Oil. "Kari has done great work at Atlas," said Sam Simon, CEO of Atlas. "In her short tenure here, she has been instrumental in implementing new technologies and programs to enhance our recruiting efforts, new benefit offerings, talent management systems and on our policies and practices."

Lawry joined Atlas in September of 2009 from Inforum & the Inforum Center for Leadership, where she was COO. At Atlas, she is responsible for management, accountability and strategic leadership for the human resources function. She is focused on developing world class HR processes, systems and tools to support a high growth workforce; driving performance management and organizational learning; and preserving the core of what makes Atlas a great place to work.

Lawry attended Michigan State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Sociology and a Masters of Human Resources & Labor Relations. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from Lake Forrest Graduate School in Chicago.
