A-B Ushers in Fall with New Brews
ST. LOUIS -- Anheuser-Busch (A-B) has added two new beers to the collection of award winning brews in its Michelob Specialty Sampler Collection -- Michelob Porter and Michelob Bavarian-Style Wheat.
"Our Porter and Bavarian-Style Wheat really round out a great sampling of beers that showcase a variety of tastes and aromas perfect for enjoying alone or with food," said Florian Kuplent, brewmaster for A-B. "The Michelob family of beers has such a rich heritage. As a brewmaster it is very exciting to collaborate on new beers that will be a part of that history."
The Bavarian-Style Wheat is brewed with wheat malt similar to Bavarian-style Hefeweizen brews. Like all Hefeweizens, the beer is unfiltered, giving the beer a characteristic cloudy appearance. The aroma hints at cloves and bananas, and fits well with poultry and Asian dishes.
The Porter uses the classic aroma hop varieties grown in the Pacific Northwest and two-row, caramel and chocolate barley malts. The dark-brown brew has an aroma of coffee and chocolate and goes well with cheese, shellfish dishes and chocolate desserts.
In addition to the two new beers, the sampler collection also includes:
-- Michelob Marzen: a 2005 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) winner in the German-Style Marzen/Oktoberfest category. This full-bodied beer is amber-red with a malty aroma and pairs best with beef stew.
-- Michelob Pale Ale: a 2005 GABF winner in the Classic English-Style Pale category. The dark gold-colored beer has a spicy, hoppy character and goes well with full-flavored beef dishes such as steak.
-- Michelob Amberbock: a 1998 GABF American-Style Dark Lager winner. The amber colored brew is made with all-imported hops and dark roasted barley malt giving it a full-bodied taste. AmberBock works best with grilled meats and barbequed foods as well as strong flavored cheeses such as cheddar, gouda and smoked mozzarella.
The Michelob Specialty Sampler Collection will be available through the month of November in 12- and 20-packs.
