Best Travel Center Design Runner-Up: Mach 1
Best Travel Center Design
Honorable mention: Mach 1, Harrisburg, Ill.
Designer: Paragon Solutions
Situated in an opportune location — on a major intersection of the Roady’s Truck Stops network — Meyer Oil Co. President Alan Meyer and design firm Paragon Solutions envisioned the potential of an expansive 8,540-square-foot truck stop that would be the “man cave” equivalent of a convenience store.
That vision realized is Mach 1. The truck stop offers the town of Harrisburg the largest beverage selection in the area, according to the retailer. Ranging from ice-cold beer to wine and a multitude of other drink options, beverages glow behind brightly lit cooler doors.
The store also offers a gaming room, Domino’s Pizza counter, and large-scale restrooms that feature polished hardware accents and warm, welcoming lighting.
“This project had to fit in with the Mach 1 branding, so the designers knew it had to be first an easy-to-shop store,” Paragon Solutions noted. “And secondly, [it had to be] emblazoned with energetic graphics that embodied speed, masculinity and upscale appeal while keeping true to the Mach 1 brand.”
