Beverage Retailing Summit Set for March
AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- It's that time of year -- when beverage retailers and marketers clear their collective dockets in order to descend on Amelia Island for the leading annual event in the beverage retailing business.
This year, the Beverage Retailing Summit 2002 returns to the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Resort Hotel on March 12 for two days of intense discussion and analysis, sprinkled with, of course, a healthy amount of play and networking opportunities.
The Summit unofficially kicks off at noon on Monday, March 11, with a tennis clinic for retailers followed by a round-robin tournament at the Ritz-Carlton Tennis Club. At 12:30, golfers are invited to tee off at The Golf Club of Amelia Island, an 18-hole championship course adjacent to the hotel property. Participation in the golf and tennis activities is limited exclusively to retailers, and is included in the registration price.
The social agenda continues Monday evening with the Opening Reception and Buffet Dinner held, weather permitting, on the outdoor veranda adjacent lounge just off the main reception area. With poolside and oceanfront views, the event is sure to be a perfect end to a day of fun, relaxation and networking.
On Tuesday morning, March 12, noted beverage maven Havis Dawson, editor of Beverage World and contributing editor for Beverage Aisle, sister publications of Convenience Store News opens the Summit with the comprehensive and popular presentation, The State of the Beverage World. Running the gamut from bottled water to spirits, the presentation will give past performance and projections for all major beverage categories.
A powerhouse lineup of retailers and consultants make up this year's speaker roster including Chris Hoyt of Hoyt Associates and Mike Gorshe of Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting).
Among chains participating as presenters and/or panelists will be such retail powerhouses as 7-Eleven, Wal-Mart, Safeway, BP Plc, D'Agostino's, Sheetz, Nice 'N' Easy Grocery Shoppes, Costco, Miller Oil, Pharmor, Eckerd, Racetrack Petroleum and Store 24.
Roundtable discussions will be moderated by editors from Beverage Aisle's VNU Business Media sister magazines Convenience Store News, Progressive Grocer and Retail Merchandiser.
The Summit will be inclusive of all five major off-premise channels of distribution: supermarkets, c-stores, chain drug, mass merchandisers and club stores. For information or to register for the show contact [email protected].
