BP Spreading Olympic Fever

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- BP Products North America Inc. is getting into the Olympic spirit. The oil giant, which serves as the exclusive energy partner of Team USA through 2016, will host the BP Team USA Experience event at Union Station here tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free and open to the public event will allow area residents to participate in Olympic and Paralympic sports including a 10-meter sprint, wheelchair race, shot put and discus. Team USA athlete Chris Waddell, 13-time Paralympic medalist, will be on hand to sign autographs.

In addition to the event, BP and local BP marketers will present a $15,000 grant donation during the event to Paralympic Sport Washington, D.C.; and Paralympic Sport Club Mid-Atlantic.

"BP's sponsorship of the 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams inspired us to show our support and commitment to our local Paralympic Sports Clubs to help fuel the future of Baltimore and Washington, D.C. athletes with physical disabilities," said Hossein Ejtemai, president of BP's Petroleum Marketing Group.

BP markets more than 15 billion gallons of gasoline every year to U.S. consumers through more than 11,000 BP- and Arco-branded outlets.

The Olympic Games will begin on July 27 in London.
