Buc-ee’s Reveals Plans for Southeast Expansion
LAKE JACKSON, Texas — Buc-ee’s plans for Southeast expansion can best be described as “Texas-sized.”
Following announcements earlier this month that the convenience store chain would make its first foray outside of its home state in Daytona Beach, Fla., Buc-ee’s said the Daytona Beach Travel Center will be followed by new locations in Fort Meyers, Fla., and Baldwin County, Ala.
“We’re taking our love of Buc-ee’s on the road, sharing the best convenience store experience with America and spreading Buc-ee’s passion for excellence into Florida and Alabama,” said Jeff Nadalo, Buc-ee’s general counsel. “As we expand, we remain committed to bringing our customers clean restrooms, a wide variety of merchandise, and great customer service, as we’ve been doing since 1982.”
Buc-ee’s is scheduled to break ground in Florida in 2018.
According to the c-store retailer, once open, the 50,000-square-foot Daytona Beach Travel Center will become the largest gas station/convenience store in the state of Florida. It will offer Florida-centric products and feature at least 120 fueling positions.
In March 2016, Buc-ee’s was moving forward with plans to build on a 15-acre site in Baton Rouge, La. — which would have been its first site outside the Lone Star State. However, the company canceled those plans later in the year because it was unable to secure additional locations in Louisiana, as CSNews Online previously reported.
Lake Jackson-based Buc-ee’s operates 32 c-stores and travel centers throughout Texas. The retailer is known for its size and clean bathrooms.
