C-store Retailers Celebrate National Hot Dog Day
NATIONAL REPORT — It's a dog-eat-dog world and convenience store chains across the country are getting in the game. In honor of National Hot Dog Day on Thursday, July 23, several retailers are offering promotions.
Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J Travel Plazas will celebrate the holiday by giving away one free Oscar Mayer hot dog to each customer who visits one of its travel centers. To redeem a free hot dog, customers need to show a coupon available through the Knoxville, Tenn.-based company's Facebook and Twitter accounts. The posting goes live on Thursday.
Cary, N.C.-based Kangaroo Express is linking its National Hot Dog Day celebration to its support of military personnel. Approximately 280 Kangaroo Express grill-ready stores in parts of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia are offering a free Ball Park hot dog to any customer with a military I.D. between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, while supplies last.
All customers at these 280 participating stores can enjoy 50-cent Ball Park hot dogs between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., limited to four per customer while supplies last. In addition, Kangaroo Express customers can purchase a Polar Pop Cup and hot dog for $1.19, plus tax.
Finally, Atlanta-based RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. has taken the celebration a step further, turning National Hot Dog Day into a monthlong campaign. Throughout the entire month of July, the retailer is offering one free hot dog to its RaceTrac Insiders, as its loyal customers are known.
