C-stores Honor Military With Veterans Day Deals
NATIONAL REPORT — The 11th day of the 11th month celebrates U.S. military veterans, and convenience stores are doing their part this year to honor the men and women who served their country.
7-Eleven Inc.
Dallas-based 7-Eleven is offering free car washes from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Veterans Day at approximately 300 7-Eleven stores with car wash facilities in 16 states. Current and former military personnel will be treated to the company's "The Works" service that includes undercarriage blast, pre-soak, wheel wash, foam conditioner, Rain-X surface protectant, rinse and power dry.
"Our military veterans and current personnel are shining stars to us, and we want their vehicles to shine, too," said 7-Eleven's Car Wash Manager Charnann Cox.
This is the fourth year 7-Eleven has offered free car washes on Veteran's Day for retired and active military personnel of any branch of the U.S. Armed Services. The company gave away 1,500 car washes on Veterans Day last year.
7-Eleven is well-known for its support of the U.S. military. The retailer has been named one of the Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers on a list published annually by G.I Jobs magazine. And earlier this year, the company awarded three military veterans with a franchise fee-free 7-Eleven store, each valued at up to $190,000, as part of its "Operation: Take Command" contest.
Sheetz Inc.
Sheetz Inc. is showing its gratitude for veterans and active duty military personnel by inviting them to enjoy a free 6-inch turkey sub and regular-size fountain drink at all Sheetz stores, by presenting a military ID or proof of service.
"Supporting the military community is important to the Sheetz family and our organization. We hope our veterans and active duty military will join us on Veterans Day as a way for us to say thank you for their service," said CEO Joe Sheetz. "We are thankful to have the opportunity on Veterans Day to show our appreciation for military personnel who have selflessly sacrificed for us."
The Altoona, Pa.-based retailer also has enrolled its 140 car washes to participate in the Grace for Vets event, offering free washes to veterans and active duty military on Nov. 11.
According to Grace for Vets, Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey's General Stores Inc. is also offering free washes for veterans and active military personal at its 75 Casey's Express Car Washes.
Terrible Herbst
Likewise, Las Vegas-based Terrible's Car Wash is rewarding U.S. military veterans and armed forces for their service with a free car wash and free car care inspection.
Military veterans and active military service personnel can visit any of Terrible's 19 manned car wash locations or 21 Lube locations in Las Vegas and Bullhead City, Ariz., anytime on Wednesday and receive a free basic full-service or basic exterior car wash and free car care inspection. Military service personnel and military veterans just need to show their military ID to receive the complimentary wash; one wash per ID.
"Our armed service personnel do so much for our country that we wanted to do our part to recognize their service and say thank you on Veterans Day," said Scott Horner, director of operations for Terrible Herbst.
TravelCenters of America LLC
TravelCenters of America, operator of TA and Petro Stopping Centers branded travel centers, is offering a complimentary meal (up to a $15 value) on Wednesday at any participating TA or Petro sit-down restaurant to all truck drivers who are also veterans of the U.S. armed services.
"We are looking forward once again to honoring and thanking the many truck drivers who are also military veterans," said Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of Westlake, Ohio-based TravelCenters. "They served our country in the military and continue to do so in their current roles as professional drivers."
