Carolina Petroleum Gets Efficiency Boost with New Software

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Petroleum Distributors, which operates more than 60 convenience stores under the Petro Express brand in North Carolina and South Carolina, is using new Internet software to streamline and manage its fuel marketing and transportation scheduling processes.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based company announced that it has implemented TelaFuel, an Internet supply chain software solution by TelaPoint Inc., at all of its high-volume Petro Express retail sites and more than 2,000 wholesale delivery locations throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

"Our decision to implement TelaPoint's Internet supply chain solution is a key component of our ongoing strategy to optimize efficiencies across our retail and wholesale petroleum marketing operation to better serve our customers," said Alan Erquitt, Carolina Petroleum general manager. "TelaFuel is helping us to significantly reduce the manual labor and paper needed to operate our business."

TelaFuel is comprised of three applications: Smart Replenishment, which provides inventory management, delivery projections and order communication for customer fuel outlets; Smart Buying, which allows users the ability to aggregate, analyze and rank supplier prices for fuel; and Smart Invoicing, which offers the ability to reconcile supplier invoices with TelaFuel delivered orders and store fuel deliveries.

Using the new software, Carolina Petroleum is now electronically processing customer fuel orders and optimizing transportation scheduling, resulting in lower costs, enhanced customer service, improved fleet utilization and greater administrative efficiency.
