Casey's Customer Wins New Car

COLUMBUS, Neb. -- Casey's General Stores, operator of nearly 1,440 convenience stores in nine states, and the Dr. Pepper/Seven Up Bottling Group, Inc. recently teamed up for a national promotion that ended with one lucky Casey’s customer driving away in a new Hummer H3.

The winner, Greg Skalak of Columbus, Neb., told the Columbus Telegram that he was making a routine stop at a Casey's gas station when he decided to enter the "Unlock the Flavor" drawing on a whim, never expecting to actually win.

"All I did was fill out a little piece of paper," Skalak said, adding that he wasn't even in need of a new vehicle because he’s only had his current car for seven months.

He got the vehicle about five weeks ago. The keys for the Hummer were officially presented to Skalak in Columbus by Gary Gsell, division manager of Dr. Pepper/Seven Up Bottling Group, Inc., Midwest Division. Also at the presentation were Tina Krings, district manager of Casey's General Store, and Maureen Myers, supervisor of the Casey's General Store located in Columbus, the newspaper said.

Skalak soon will be moving to Lincoln, Neb., but said in the meantime, he’s been getting many requests from family and friends for rides in the new vehicle.

Officials said they didn't know how many entrants there were in the contest.
