Casey's, Hy-Vee Sponsor Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

ANKENY, Iowa -- Some 350 Iowa veterans were flown to the nation's capital this week to see the World War II Memorial, thanks to the generosity of Casey's General Stores and Hy-Vee Food Stores.

The retailers sponsored an Honor Flight from Des Moines to Washington, D.C. The veterans participated in a parade and dinner prior to the flight. A parade Monday afternoon carried the Casey's/Hy-Vee group from the Holiday Inn in Des Moines through the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

The group flew on a chartered flight for the trip and returned later the same day.
