Chevron, Safeway Bring Fuel Rewards to Florida

SAN RAMON, Calif. — Chevron Products Co., a division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., and Albertsons Cos. LLC, parent company of Safeway, expanded their joint fuel rewards program to customers in parts of Florida. Now, shoppers of the Safeway stores in Altamonte Springs, Largo and Oakland Park, Fla., can use reward points to earn up to 20 cents off per gallon when filling up at participating Chevron and Texaco branded locations in the state.

“Chevron is continually looking for innovative ways to provide value to its customers and reward them for brand preference,” said George Wall, vice president, Americas Products, for Chevron. “We’re thrilled to offer even more customers the opportunity to reap the benefits and product offerings of both Albertsons and Chevron.”

Customers can register for the fuel rewards program either at Safeway.com or by downloading the Safeway App on either their Android or iOS devices. Under the program, for every 100 reward points earned by shopping at the newly participating Florida Safeway stores, customers receive a 10 cent-per-gallon gas reward.

Reward points can be earned by shopping at Safeway stores in the following ways:

  • Customers receive one point per $1 spent on eligible grocery purchases.
  • Customers receive two points per $1 spent on qualifying gift cards.
  • Customers receive one point for every out-of-pocket cost dollar spent on pharmacy, including co-pays.

“Our fuel rewards program has been popular with customers for years, and it wasn’t a question of if or when we would do it, but how quickly we could get it rolled out for our shoppers here in Florida,” said Steve Burnham, president of Safeway's Eastern Division. “Our stores in Altamonte Springs, Largo and Oakland Park represent the best of the Safeway brand for each of the neighborhoods they serve. Teaming up with Chevron to offer Chevron and Texaco customers within this market a program that delivers additional savings at the pump just by doing their regular shopping is a natural extension of our commitment to running really great stores and delivering customers the products they want.”

The joint fuel rewards program is already available at Safeway, Vons, Pavilions and Carrs stores in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

Safeway is part of the Albertsons Cos. family of stores. Safeway’s Eastern Division employs more than 14,000 people and currently operates 125 stores, including the three Safeway stores in Florida.

San Ramon-based Chevron is one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies.
