Chevron, Safeway Extend Gas Rewards Program to Phoenix
PHOENIX -- Chevron Corp. and Safeway Inc. are extending their joint gas rewards program to the Phoenix area.
Under the program, shoppers can swipe their Safeway card or input their phone number at any participating Chevron or Texaco gas station in the Phoenix area and Chevron will automatically discount the fuel, according to a report by the Phoenix Business Journal.
For every $100 spent at Safeway grocery stores, customers save 10 cents per gallon at the pump, up to a maximum of $1 per gallon. Consumers who purchase Safeway gift cards receive $2 for every $1 spent. Shoppers also earn a point for every out-of-pocket dollar spent at Safeway's pharmacy.
The joint rewards program is currently offered at 98 Phoenix-area Safeway locations and 234 Chevron and Texaco gas stations.
Points become available 24 hours after consumers earn them. The points expire at the end of the following month after they are earned, Nancy Keane, Safeway's Arizona director of public affairs, told the news outlet.
Chevron and Safeway previously teamed up to provide similar gas rewards programs in California, Nevada, Hawaii and Alaska.
