CITGO Hits the Red Carpet With Mark Wahlberg

BOSTON — CITGO Petroleum Corp. sponsored the red carpet at a grand opening of the city’s first Wahlburger’s restaurant, located at Fenway Park adjacent to the iconic Boston CITGO sign.

Wahlburger’s is a chain of casual burger restaurants owned by the Wahlberg family, including Mark Wahlberg, star of movies such as Planet of the Apes, Ted and The Gambler, as well as Donnie Wahlberg, who is currently starring on CBS’ “Blue Bloods.” The Wahlburgers restaurants are featured on an A&E reality show.

During the Oct. 1 event, 350 guests were encouraged to download the Club CITGO app for the chance to win up to $500 in gas gift cards and other prizes. Mark Wahlberg also encouraged his Twitter and Facebook followers to join Club CITGO. His posts were “favorited” and “liked” by approximately 4,000 followers.

CITGO will also renew its relationship with Mark Wahlberg later this year when it sponsors the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation holiday party in December, which will bring gifts, food and a visit from Santa Claus to serve underprivileged children form the Boston Boys & Girls Clubs.
