CITGO's Holiday Phone Card Program Connects People

NEW YORK -- Motorists in the New York metro area have so far made nearly 90,000 calls to friends and family across the United States, and to more than 45 countries, compliments of CITGO Petroleum Corp.'s holiday phone card program.

Running from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31, the phone card program gives motorists a $3 phone card with the purchase of 10 gallons of fuel at participating CITGO locations. The program is running at nearly 300 stations in the New York metro area.

"With the hectic lives that people live these days, it can be so easy to lose touch with the people that matter the most," stated Dick Spiegel, CITGO marketer and president of SOS Fuels. "By providing phone cards to motorists during this holiday season, CITGO Petroleum and its network of locally owned CITGO stations are helping to bring families and friends closer together, no matter how many miles separate them."

The phone cards are supported by telecommunications firm Poplar Telecom Group.

CITGO, based in Houston, is a refiner, transporter and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products. The company is owned by PDV America Inc., an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Petroleos de Venezuela S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
