Coca-Cola Feeling Yellow

Coca-Cola North America will launch diet Coke with Lemon this fall, building on a busy year for diet Coke that has included the launch of a new Web site, www.dietcoke.com, and the introduction of a national advertising campaign.

The new soft drink was created to offer variety to consumers while capitalizing on a concept that diet Coke drinkers themselves came up with -- adding a taste of lemon to their diet Coke.

"For almost 20 years, consumers have enjoyed the great taste of diet Coke," said Jan Hall, senior vice president of consumer marketing for Coca-Cola North America. "Many people tell us that they enjoy putting lemon in their diet Coke -- it's a 'ritual' for them. The idea behind diet Coke with Lemon is to provide consumers with a convenient way to enjoy that ritual."

Diet Coke with Lemon will initially be available in the Midwest before rolling out to markets nationwide by the end of the year.

"With the success of our new Web site and advertising campaign, it's been a great year for diet Coke," said Hall. "Through the introduction of diet Coke with Lemon, we've created an innovative way to provide variety by building on the brand's strong equity with consumers."

Launched in 1982, diet Coke is a product of The Coca-Cola Company. Diet Coke is the number-three carbonated soft drink in the United States and is the country's leading sugar-free soft drink, Hall added.
