Coke Takes Flight
ATLANTA -- Buyers of Coca-Cola Co. drinks in the United States will receive a discount on Delta Air Lines Inc. flights under a Christmas holiday season promotion announced on Tuesday by the airline and the soft drink maker.
Coca-Cola, the world's largest soft-drink company, and Delta, the third-largest U.S. air carrier, will offer $25 off round-trip coach airline tickets in exchange for buying two 12-packs of Coca-Cola products, the companies said in a news release.
The specially marked drink packs will include claim pieces that can be exchanged for flight discount certificates. The claim pieces will be available on 12-packs of Coke and other company soft drinks such as Sprite and Nestea Cool, from Nov. 22 to Dec. 31, and the discount is good for travel on Delta between Jan. 7 and June 15, 2003. Consumers must be members of the Delta SkyMiles frequent-flyer program to participate.
Additionally, the companies said they will award instant prizes such as Delta frequent flyer miles on 4 million Coca-Cola fountain cups sold at certain convenience stores and fast-food restaurants. In April, Coca-Cola and Delta expanded their 70-year marketing relationship and beverage agreement to include SkyTeam, a global airline alliance of which Delta is a founding member.
