Coke Testing New Fountain
ATLANTA -- The Coca-Cola Co. recently reported it has started testing a new proprietary fountain that can dispense more than 100 branded sparkling and still beverages from a single freestanding unit, while taking up about the same space as the current eight-valve dispenser, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
In consumer testing earlier this summer, satisfaction with the overall beverage experience increased 72 percent compared with current fountains, Coca-Cola said. The dispenser also got high marks for ease of use, variety/choice, taste, value and fun experience.
Atlanta-based Coca-Cola said the very high concentrate ingredients the new dispenser uses will cut packaging waste and energy use, and also will reduce the storage space now needed to support fountain dispensers, the Chronicle report stated.
"Innovation is our lifeblood, and we wanted a dispenser that offers consumers greater beverage variety while helping our customers increase beverage profitability, " Chris Lowe, president of Coca-Cola North America FoodService and On-Premise, said in a statement. "We started by ignoring preconceived notions of fountain beverages and explored how a fountain dispenser could look and work in the future."
