Colas Fight with Color
PLANO, Texas - Dr Pepper/Seven Up Inc. announced last Friday plans to launch Red Fusion in mid-July. The red, fruity beverage will be the first new flavor addition to the Dr Pepper line since the product was introduced in 1885.
Spurred by last year's success of Mountain Dew's "Code Red," spin-off brands have become a new trend, as cola makers attempt to stop the flow of thirsty customers now reaching for new-age beverages, bottled water and fruit drinks.
Coca-Cola's new "Vanilla Coke" launched nationwide yesterday, while Pepsi's "Pepsi Blue," will launch later this summer.
Red Fusion will be available as a fountain drink, in 12-packs, two liters, and 20-oz single serve bottles during rollout.
