Crowd of 200 Takes Part in Kum & Go HQ Groundbreaking

DES MOINES, Iowa — More than 200 people joined Kum & Go LC leaders and associates, state and local officials and architect Renzo Piano to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Krause Gateway Center, future site of Kum & Go's headquarters, on Oct. 20.

Kum & Go President and CEO Kyle Krause, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie and Piano, a Pritzker prize-winning architect, gave remarks at the event before the crowd was invited to participate in a ceremonial groundbreaking. The shovels and hard hats used will be donated to the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity.

The new five-story building, located at 1459 Grand Ave. in Des Moines, is expected to be completed in early 2018. It is designed to provide a modern and highly collaborative work environment that offers flexibility for growth in the years to come, the retailer said.

Kum & Go, currently based in West Des Moines, operates 432 convenience stores in Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming.
