CSNews Kicks Off Sixth Annual Spirit Awards
JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Convenience Store News is now accepting entries for its 2014 Spirit Awards for Community Outreach contest. The sixth annual awards celebrate convenience store retailers whose community service programs better the lives of people in the markets they serve.
One Grand Award and three awards based on c-store chain size -– one to 99 stores, 100 to 499 stores, and 500-plus stores -– will be presented.
Submissions must include detailed descriptions of the community service programs that took place during 2013-2014, along with a handling fee of $125. Winning entries will be selected based on the scope of giving, personal involvement of company management and associates, innovation and creativity of programs, and more. Entries are due by Sept. 15.
Last year's Grand Spirit Award winner was VERC Enterprises. The category winners were St. Roman Oil Co. (one to 99 stores), Alon Brands Inc. (100 to 499 stores) and CST Brands Inc./Corner Store (500-plus stores).
