CST Chosen as San Antonio Business of the Year
SAN ANTONIO — CST Brands Inc. is being recognized in its hometown as Business of the Year.
The San Antonio Business Journal named the convenience store retailer as the 2015 Business of the Year and will bestow the honor at the Journal's Book of Lists Executive Celebration on Jan. 28.
CST Brands was chosen through a combination of online reader polls and a Business Journal selection committee, with the percentages of votes from each weighted equally.
In making the announcement, the business outlet cited CST Brands' "eventful 2015," which included unveiling a new format and branding for its Corner Store c-store chain; opening a new 365,000-square-foot distribution center in North San Antonio; and reaching an agreement to buy Waycross, Ga.-based Flash Foods and its store network from Jones Co. Inc. and its affiliates for $425 million.
CST Brands Chairwoman and CEO Kim Lubel was also among the five finalists for 2015 Business Person of the Year. However, the news outlet ultimately gave the honor to Kit Goldsbury, CEO of Silver Ventures, who played a key role in downtown San Antonio's redevelopment.
San Antonio-based CST Brands has nearly 1,900 locations in the United States and Canada.
