Cumberland Farms Adds SmartPay Program for Fleets

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Cumberland Farms Inc. is providing a new way for business owners to save at the pump. The locally based convenience and gasoline retailer today announced the launch of its SmartPay Check-Link Business payment program, which provides fleets two ways to save: the SmartPay Business Card and the SmartPay Business Mobile App.

The launch of SmartPay Business for fleets follows the January 2013 introduction of SmartPay Check-Link for consumers. Both programs are free to join and use, and automatically save customers 10 cents on every gallon of gas every time they fill up, the company stated.

"We're very excited about the launch of SmartPay Business and to extend the incredible savings and benefits of SmartPay to business owners," said Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms. "We created this payment program as a secure and straightforward way for business owners to save significantly on their fuel costs, while also managing their fleets and tracking fuel spending. We've saved consumers more than $12 million to date with the program, and we hope to achieve similar success with SmartPay Business."

Business owners can add as many drivers as they want to their SmartPay Business account. Features of the program include increased oversight of a fleet's fuel usage and the ability to track the gas consumption of individual drivers and set driver-specific limits.

Administrators can access an online portal to monitor the daily activity of their fleet, as well as to access monthly statements to help manage their company's overall gas expenditures. These easy-to-read reports detail the number of gallons purchased, the locations of purchase and total savings, according to the retailer. Business owners can also use an optional odometer feature to track mileage.

For the purpose of data security, every SmartPay Business account is individually protected by a PIN password, and fleet members have distinct PINs that the administrator oversees. Cumberland Farms also joined forces with National Payment Card Association to ensure secure, PIN-based debit transactions to a business' bank account each time a driver swipes their SmartPay Check-Link Business Card or pays with their phone.

More information about the program, including an online application to enroll, is available at www.smartpaybusiness.com.

The SmartPay Business app can be downloaded for free via Google Play for Android users or the Apple App Store for iPhone users.
