Cumberland Farms Expands Its Reach in Florida

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — Cumberland Farms has entered Central Florida with four new concept stores, increasing its presence to nearly 50 stores in the state.

The new locations, which opened during the past few weeks, are in Brevard County, the retailer's first in the central region of the Sunshine State.

The latest convenience stores are part of Cumberland Farms' efforts to transform its stores. The multiyear remodeling initiative, which began in 2009, includes a major overhaul of all the brand's stores by incorporating a modernized architecture and design, and new food items like pizza, fried favorites and hot sandwiches.

The effort also includes upgrades like additional square footage, high-top bar counters, outdoor patio seating, and an increased number of parking spaces and gas pumps.

"Cumberland Farms has served communities in Florida since the 1970s, and our customer loyalty and demand for the brand has continued to grow," said Ari Haseotes, CEO of Cumberland Farms. "We are excited to have expanded the brand's presence to a new region in Florida with our new concept stores, in addition to giving back to community organizations in the process."

To mark the brand's expansion to Central Florida, Cumberland Farms will host a ribbon-cutting event at each new store throughout the week of Oct. 26 that will kickoff a four-week fundraiser for a community organization.

During the four weeks after each event, 10 cents from every dispensed beverage purchased at the new store will go directly to that store's partnered community organization.

The grand-opening events and fundraising partners are:

  • Oct. 26: 4440 West New Haven Ave., West Melbourne, Fla.; Greater West Melbourne Little League
  • Oct. 27: 1000 West New Haven Ave., West Melbourne, Fla.; Palm Bay Magnet High School
  • Oct. 28:  440 South Wickham Road, West Melbourne, Fla.; Roy Allen Elementary School
  • Oct. 29: 880 Malabar Road, Malabar, Fla.; Bayside High School Boys' Basketball and Girl's Tennis

Framingham-based Cumberland Farms has nearly 600 convenience retail locations throughout the Northeast and Florida.
