Cumberland Farms Launches Corporate Giving Program

CANTON, Mass. -- Reflecting its commitment to make a difference in the lives of young people in the communities it serves, Cumberland Farms will launch its Corporate Giving Program for Youth tomorrow morning at the Boston Public Library.

The chain's CEO Lily Bentas will announce two significant gifts to inaugurate the program. The first will provide need-based college scholarships to 100 high school students across its 11-state service area. Second, Cumberland Farms is funding a 4-H Youth in Action Grants Program to benefit 5,000 youth and 1,500 adult volunteers at 50 local 4-H clubs and 4-H after-school sites across its service region.

"Cumberland Farms recognizes that our youth are our most precious resource," Bentas said. "We are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people. We want our corporate giving program to be a vehicle that supports and improves the circumstances for the next generation."

According to the company, three key missions underpin the Corporate Giving Program for Youth: improve the prospects for young people; encourage and support young people's achievements in business and leadership; and provide educational opportunities for young people in the communities Cumberland Farms serves.

The 4-H Youth in Action Grants Program will award mini-grants to local 4-H clubs or after-school sites to implement a service-learning project. Youth in Action grants are opportunities for young people to learn leadership, citizenship and life skills while benefiting the communities in which they live, the chain said.

The Cumberland Farms scholarship program will be administered through Scholarship America, and award students on both academic merit and financial need.
