Cumberland Farms Shows Off New Store Support Center

WESTBOROUGHUGH, Mass. — Opening new convenience stores and remodeling existing locations have not been the only projects keeping Cumberland Farms busy. The chain has also been building a new headquarters, which officially opened on March 10.

Known as the company's Store Support Center, the 600,000-square-foot site boasts 40,000 square feet of culinary space, which Mike Tierney, Cumberland Farms' director of construction, said "is essentially a large kitchen where we make a lot of our products."

Tierney told the Telegram that another 120,000 square feet is the corporate support center, "where we do all of the business support for the stores, so you'd find accounting, finance, legal, construction, and support functions. Then there's another 80,000 square feet of refrigeration and freezer space and loading dock space, and the rest of it is dry goods storage space."

Cumberland Farms' new headquarters shifts its home base to Westborough from Framingham. More than 700 corporate employees will work out of the Store Support Center, which features a parking lot for roughly 500 cars, according to the news outlet.

At the new facility, Cumberland Farms staff manufactures, packages, stores, and ships products, as well as conducts meetings, interviews, and supports its stores. Construction and development took six months of planning and nine months of building on land that originally simply served as warehouse space, the report added.

As part of the relocation, 300 employees have already made the move from Framingham to Westborough.

According to the Telegram, amenities at the facility include a 3,000-square-foot gymnasium, a 4,000-square-foot convenience store with free coffee and soda, an 80-seat cafeteria, and an outdoor walking path.

"By bringing everybody under one roof, it certainly makes everything we do more efficient, but it also brings the teammates together. I'm extremely proud of the new office and the project overall, but I'm even more proud to be part of [CEO Ari's Haseotes] vision and the Cumberland Farms team," Tierney said.

Westborough-based Cumberland Farms operates approximately 600 convenience stores in six states.
