Dunkin’ Donuts Zooms In on Detroit Again, Adding Six Sites
CANTON, Mass. -- Dunkin’ Donuts continues its march across the country, and its latest move takes aim at Detroit again. In this deal, the locally headquartered retailer will develop six new restaurants around the Motor City over the next few years. This is the fourth Dunkin’ Donuts deal in the market announced this year, bringing the total new locations to seven.
According to the company, three restaurants are slated to open in 2011 and the remaining restaurants will open by 2014. To date, Dunkin’ Donuts has 56 locations in the Detroit area, including the most recent in Warren, Mich.
"Dunkin’ Donuts is excited to be expanding in the Detroit market and looks forward to the opening of these restaurants in the years to come," said Grant Benson, CFE, vice president of franchising and market planning, Dunkin’ Brands Inc. "We are still looking to expand our presence here and are seeking qualified franchisees with foodservice, operations and real estate experience to join our team in Detroit."
The news comes a week after Dunkin’ Donuts detailed expansion plans in Central and Southern Milwaukee, as CSNews Online reported. In that move, the company is teaming up with the Milwaukee Coffee Brewing Co. to open 38 new restaurants.
During the first half of 2010, Dunkin’ Donuts cut the ribbon on 338 net new locations worldwide, 75 of those in the United States. It also signed 72 new domestic development commitments.
With a network of stores within a market Dunkin’ Donuts can invest in a distribution model that provides a consistent, high-quality product consumers expect "in the way and on the way" of their daily routines, the company explained. In an effort to keep the brand fresh and competitive, Dunkin’ Donuts offers flexible concepts for any real estate format including free-standing restaurants, end caps, in-line sites, gas and convenience, travel plazas, universities, as well as other retail environments.
