Employees Cited for Illegal Sales


GLASTONBURY, Conn. -- Three local merchants were accused of selling tobacco to minors and issued tickets as a result of a recent undercover operation.

Employees at L&M Mobil, Buckingham Wine and Spirits and Towne Pharmacy sold tobacco such as cigarettes or cigars to a minor working with local police and the state Tobacco Compliance Unit, a division of the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Hartford (Conn.) Courant.

Officers conducted the compliance checks Nov. 14 and Dec. 12, checking all 33 local merchants who sell tobacco products. State and federal laws prohibited stores from selling tobacco products to people under 18.

Police issued citations to the following employees: Heather Guy, 21, at L&M Mobil; Paul Saydlowski, 41, at Buckingham Wine & Spirits; and Sandra Linfert, 59, at Towne Pharmacy.
