Enmark Boosts Fresh-Food Efforts

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Enmark Stations launched a custom fresh food program to meet the growing demand for healthier, fresher food options.

The latest push will be featured at 37 Enmark convenience stores in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The retailer is pairing with FreshOne on the initiative.

"Enmark has always had an interest in making our communities healthier," said Matt Clements, director of marketing at Enmark Stations. "In order to take our healthy and fresh options to the next level, we sought out a company who had a successful track record of safely producing, reliably delivering and profitably managing fresh food programs for large retailers. FreshOne was an easy choice.

"They embraced our desire to be a top-of-mind foodservice destination in the communities Enmark serves and helped us organize this vision," he added.

As a custom consolidated logistics provider and fresh food program producer, FreshOne will work with Enmark to help guide their new grab-and-go suite of custom products that includes items such as a Gorgonzola Steak Baguette, Chipotle Chicken Wrap, Canadian Bacon, Egg White & Cheese Pretzel on Flatbread and numerous cut and whole fruit options.

"Enmark is doing fresh right. They really care about giving their customers truly fresh, tasty and affordable food options," said Don Janacek, president of FreshOne.

The fresh-food initiative comes several months after Enmark began carrying United Natural Foods (UNFI) organic products at some of its stores in order to offer customers healthy snacking options. Available UNFI items include kale and falafel chips, Tanka buffalo jerky, organic candy, kombucha beverages, organic sodas and frozen products such as ice cream and frozen entrees, as CSNews Online previously reported.

Health is a key platform for Enmark. The retailer hosts the Encourage Health Education Series, series of lectures benefiting local nonprofit organizations focused on wellness.

"We've organized the Encourage Health lecture series, and we have a history of working with our suppliers to carry their healthier product options," said Clements, "Over 50 percent of Americans snack three or more times per day. Why not make it easier for them to make a healthy choice when they snack?"

Family-run Enmark Stations operates 64 convenience stores in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.
