ExxonMobil Brings Back Speedpass Customer Appreciation Days

FAIRFAX, Va. -- For a limited time, ExxonMobil Corp. is making it more worthwhile for customers who have a registered Speedpass account, by bringing back Speedpass Customer Appreciation Days.

Customers may register their Speedpass accounts at Speedpass.com/save to earn discounts for a 60-day period. During this time, registered customers who use the keychain-sized contactless payment device on fuel purchases at participating Exxon and Mobil stations can receive a rebate of 15 cents per gallon of fuel purchased, up to 100 gallons. Hence, customers can save up to $15 with the promotion, which began Friday.

Customers without a Speedpass account can take advantage if they sign up for Speedpass and register by May 31. Enrollment is free.

The 15-cent discount will not be seen immediately at the pump. According to ExxonMobil, Speedpass customers taking advantage of the promotion will subsequently receive a rebate on the credit or check card accounts linked to their Speedpass devices.

"We want to show our customers that we appreciate their loyalty, so we're rewarding them with an easy way to save on gas," Chris Mahoney, U.S. branded wholesale manager, ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing Co., said in a news release. "With Speedpass, saving has never been so easy and it's faster than cash or a credit card, a convenience for our busy customers."

Each Speedpass key tag has a built-in chip and radio frequency antenna that allows it to communicate with Speedpass readers at gasoline pumps, convenience store terminals and car wash kiosks at Exxon and Mobil stations. With a quick wave of the tag in front of the reader, payment is processed using the customer's linked credit or debit card.

As CSNews Onlinepreviously reported, ExxonMobil launched a similar program on May 2.
