Friendly's Recalls Ice Cream
NEW YORK -- Convenience store operators should check their freezers: the Friendly Ice Cream Corp. is recalling its Apple Pie a la Mode, Limited Edition because it may contain small pieces of a rubber-like material that could cause choking, according to news reports.
The corporation already received one report of choking.
The recalled flavor was sold in c-stores, supermarkets and Friendly's Restaurants in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, West Virginia and Washington DC.
Friendly's says it appears the material got into the ice cream during manufacturing. The lot code on the box is 25-26 WC5 SEP 22 04, news reports stated.
