GasBuddy Redesigns App to Be 'Yelp for Gas Stations'

BOSTON — GasBuddy has undergone many changes, including a new brand, logo and mobile app that is intended to connect to consumers and retailers beyond just gas prices. This includes providing ratings of gas stations, similar to Yelp.

In addition to station ratings, GasBuddy’s new app is designed to offer enhanced search and filters; a clean, easy-to-use interface; and updated games and challenges.

“With the GasBuddy app on 60 million smartphones we have the opportunity to do something unique and powerful for our loyal consumers, the stores that serve them and the brands that want to reach them,” said Walt Doyle, CEO of GasBuddy. “Fuel prices will always be our center of gravity, but with an all-new smartphone app, new media products for advertisers, and other solutions for the retailers themselves, finding a price on GasBuddy is just the beginning.”

To celebrate the rebrand, GasBuddy will launch a month-long nationwide #TankTakeover campaign, whereby it will give away thousands of gallons of gas in select cities. The campaign will involve partnering with local gas stations and filling up at GasBuddy member’s tanks. The first stop will be in Houston on Sept 23.

Founded in 2000, GasBuddy is a technology company designed to change the way consumers find, purchase and save money on gasoline.
