Giant Eagle Doubles fuelperks! Gasoline Discounts

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Giant Eagle Inc. announced it will temporarily double its fuelperks! gasoline discounts, offering a 20 cent per gallon discount at GetGo fuel and convenience store locations for every $50 spent using the Giant Eagle Advantage Card on other retailers' gift cards, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported.

Giant Eagle started offering customers the gasoline for groceries discounts in July 2002. Under the fuelperks! program, customers usually get a 10-cent-per-gallon discount on gasoline at GetGo convenience stores. The Pittsburgh-based retail grocery chain said the new offer runs from Thursday, Nov. 2, until Dec. 27, 2006.

Customer savings can be accumulated up to the price of a free tank of gasoline, one vehicle only, with a maximum of 30 gallons in one transaction, according to the company. Points can be redeemed by scanning a Giant Eagle Advantage Card at the GetGo pump, the report stated.

The grocery retailer said in addition to gift cards and everyday grocery items, fuelperks! rewards may be earned on non-state and federally funded pharmacy prescriptions, Dress for Success dry cleaning services and photo and video services. Purchases made of Giant Eagle/GetGo, American Express, MasterCard and Visa gift and reloadable cards, as well as those made online, are not eligible for the double fuelperks! rewards, according to the report.
