Gilbarco, LIFT Team to Present New POS Solution

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root hopes to help lift convenience store retailers' sales by certifying upselling technology from LIFT Retail Marketing Technology Inc. for use with its Passport point-of-sale system (POS).

According to Gilbarco, the move was made in an effort to increase in-store sales and minimize the amount of counter space required by consolidating the POS customer display and upselling functionality onto shared hardware.

"LIFT's suggestive-selling program increases in-store sales by 2 to 5 percent by improving cashier performance and upsell conversion rates, while providing value to the shopper," said Rob Drew, senior vice president and co-founder of LIFT. "Retailers benefit from LIFT's 'smart suggestions,' as well as daily electronic upsell reports."

Passport's PCI-compliant architecture allows for a seamless integration with LIFT without any concern of cardholder data being visible, Gilbarco stated. Andrew Robinson, Gilbarco's director of POS marketing, added that Passport combined with LIFT technology enables retailers to leverage Passport's loyalty and social media support into authentic customer interactions using the LIFT station.

"Consumers can now easily join loyalty programs or select an active promotion to add to the transaction in progress," he said.

The joint LIFT/Passport technology solution will become available to all c-store retailers by the end of this year. The product will first be shown at the upcoming NACS Show in Chicago.
