G&M Oil's Mobile App Goes Bilingual
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — G&M Oil Co.’s mobile app has gone bilingual.
In a company news release Wednesday, G&M said that by utilizing the mobile app it has opened a new channel of communication to determine what customers are looking for with their overall experience at its store locations. The company also said it recognizes that a large portion of its customer base is Spanish speaking, and customer feedback from the app confirmed a Spanish language option was needed.
“G&M currently operates in a number of markets with a growing Spanish-speaking population. We felt it was necessary to give customers a choice in how they access our mobile app in the language that is most comfortable for them,” said Julie Jackson, G&M’s senior vice president and general manager. “Our G&M Mobile App helps us connect with our customers and the advent of a Spanish language version will allow us to expand our consumer audience.”
In August 2015, G&M partnered with GasBuddy OpenStore to launch the mobile app, where customers can navigate to their nearest G&M location, check gas prices and find the latest deals and product offerings. It is free and available for iPhones, Androids and Blackberry devices, as CSNews Online previously reported.
G&M is GasBuddy OpenStore’s first retailer to launch a multilingual app.
Customers can easily switch their language from English to Spanish in the “Settings” section of the app. Providing language options for customers allows OpenStore retailers to reach more customers and communicate with them more effectively, G&M stated.
In addition to adding the Spanish language option, G&M launched a new interactive game called “Spike It!” Inspired by the company’s headquarters in Huntington Beach and its proximity to the surf and sand, the game rewards players with credits as well as exclusive coupons that can be redeemed in-store.
G&M Oil Co. owns and operates convenience stores and fueling stations throughout Southern California, including San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
